Delivering excellence in Team Building and Team Effectiveness with Go Ape
Our client, MTM Centre for Leadership and Development required us to support them in working with a Senior leadership and sales team. The team are spread across the globe predominantly in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The CEO required this sales team to experience thought provoking team activities to help improve their communication and develop a unified approach to their interactions with each other, their own teams and their customers. The programme should help them understand how to inspire and motivate their own project teams and work as effective coaches supporting their customers as they guide them through the adoption of the new technologies that they sell.
The Go Ape and BlueSky Approach
The programme was developed in collaboration with our client MTM making sure that all the objectives were met. The day kicked off with a facilitated discussion on the attributes found within a High Performing Teams. The team then dived into expertly crafted Team Building activities, featured within the BlueSky in a Bag. They had chosen Magic Stick and Changing Places from a set of 18 interactive and engaging team activities adding real value to the previous session, as the activities highlighted the importance of planning and clear communications to allow for success on the tasks.
After coffee, the team then took to the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure course which brought a completely new dynamic to the day's programme. Working together they overcame their feelings of anxiety, apprehension and isolation. The team automatically found themselves supporting each other and developing trust to overcome their feelings of anxiety. The tree top adventure highlights extremely effectively how a team must embrace the mechanism of trust and support to develop a cohesive environment.
Back on the ground, the team tackled the BlueSky Team Solutions, such as Minefield and Spider's Web, where the team were required to brainstorm, develop a plan and then make time to reflect on the success of their plans as they move from one task to the next. On completion of the tasks the facilitator helped the team capture the learning. The discussions focused on how well did we communicated, did someone take the lead on the task, did the team develop a plan and ultimately how did this lead to the success or failure of the task? On completion of the programme the team reviewed the learning from the day and compiled some real actions to support their development back in the workplace.
