Scottish Water provides a vital public service, essential to the health of the Scottish population. They currently provide clean, safe drinking water to 2.3million households and over 140,000 businesses.
Scottish Water contacted BlueSky Experiences looking to organise an event for an away day for some of their staff as a thank you for their hard work. Scottish Water wanted an event that would help strengthen the communication and development within their team through the use of experimental team-working activities provided by BlueSky.
The creative team at BlueSky designed a team building day at the Westerwood Hotel near Cumbernauld, which would address the business objectives of the client and deliver tangible benefits to the team.
In the morning there was a business meeting where the Scottish Water team discussed their KPI's and plan for the next six-months.
The team working afternoon started with an energizer session, called Zoo Parade where the use of blindfolds is required and a sense of humour is vital. After this light-hearted game, the serious challenges of the day began.
'Colour Blind' and 'Synergy' - two excellent team-working activities were completed, helping the team understand the importance of a common language. On completion they demonstrate the importance of clear and concise communication within a team and how the reality of the spoken word can be perceived in so many ways.
The final activity of the day was 'Construction', a group-working activity designed to explore issues with communication within a team. Construction focuses on leadership on leadership and communication, demonstrating the group's natural behaviour in a safe environment, allowing numerous learning's to be taken from the experience.
The entire event was focuses on the importance of good communication to increase the productivity and efficiency within the team.
Keith Phillips from Scottish Water commented:
"We gave BlueSky Experiences a tight brief and short turnaround time for our event. We were very impressed with the range of suggestions they came up with. We wanted an event that combined practical business issues with positive team building activities. Our event was very well organised and the feedback we received from the team following the event has been extremely positive."
