The Airdrie-based business contacted BlueSky Experiences to organise a team building day to celebrate their recent award win - Icons of Whisky Distiller of the Year 2008, and to present the new corporate strategy.
The company was looking for an event to be held onsite at their Airdrie distillery for a team of 120 people. the event had to be fun, but with tangible business benefits included.
The creative team at BlueSky Experiences visited the client's site in advance to complete a site survey and determined what event format were possible.
The team building day consisted on a morning session which included events directly linked with the company's vision. These included an alcohol awareness session and a business strategy update. The group then completed the renowned 'Big Picture' team building activity.
The 'Big Picture' is a highly creative and interactive activity that teams work through to complete a visual representation of the client's vision or strategy. The visualised image in agreed with the client prior to the event and snippets of that image are given to team members during the activity enabling them to recreate on a big picture using various creative materials available to them. The teams do not know what the image will be and therefore have to work together to get all the pieces to fit and create the complete image (in this case the picture consisted of a collection of Inver House's Brands, as well as the company's recent award).
Once the 'Big Picture' was completed and the vision revealed, the group split in to three teams and prepared for the afternoon session of fun activities - consisting of three 'Fun Teambuilding Activity Zones'.
Fun Zone included Sumo Wrestling and Gladiator Duelling where contestants don inflatable life-sized suits and battle it out! The zone also includes laser clays, where team members had the opportunity to hone their shooting skills. There was also a mini-bungee jump for the daredevils!
Team Zone consisted of a series of highly interactive activities that tested the team's creative and lateral thinking skills.
Scottish Zone consisted on a bespoke mini-highland games for the Inver House group. The teams were able to put their heritage to the test and compete in the legendary BlueSky Highland Games. Activities included Haggis Hurling, Tossing the Caber and the Tug o'War.
The day was made complete with a prize giving ceremony and barbeque in the evening, where there was a musical performance from a local secondary school.
The entire event was organised, project managed and run by BlueSky Experiences. This included erecting a marquee onsite prior to the session, running the events and co-ordinating the catering and refreshments.
