Corporate Scotland Signs up for The BlueSky Challenge

01/08/2008

Teams from across Scottish business are signing up for a challenging day of fun and adventure in support of The Prince’s Trust. Run by the award-winning BlueSky Experiences, specialists in team building events, this unique adventure race is designed to be fun as well as challenging for competitors of all abilities.

The event takes place within the stunning grounds of Drumlanrig Castle on Friday 12th September 2008 and is open to companies and organisations from across the UK. Competing in mixed sex teams of 4 the race involves Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Orienteering, Aerial Runways, River Crossing and Secret Disciplines – a series of tasks designed to test both mental and physical abilities.

Amongst those signed up to compete are teams from Coca Cola, Morse, JAC Travel, Royal Bank of Scotland, RB Farquhar, Scotbeef, Trinity Mirror and TSG with RB Farquhar sponsoring the Tyrolean Runway –always a good opportunity to see who’s got a head for heights and can avoid a dunking!

With no set route round the course, planning and developing a strategy is vital for success rather than relying on sporting ability and fitness. Teams work out in advance their best tactics and route to maximise points and compete non-stop against the clock collecting bonus points at each checkpoint. At the end of the day the team with the most bonus points and the fastest time will win the challenge.

Morale is high among the entrants and there is rumour that secret training is already taking place to ensure victory. Event organiser James England said: “The competition has been designed to allow everyone to take part, regardless of fitness levels. The emphasis is very much on having fun whilst doing something adventurous and challenging for a great cause.”
