JAC Travel to Support the Prince's Trust with a United Nations Team
29/07/2008Employees of JAC Travel Scotland are taking to their bikes and donning their running shoes to take part in The BlueSky Challenge an adventure race in support of The Prince’s Trust.
The race, to be held at Drumlanrig Castle on Friday 12th September, consists of 8 hours of action packed adventure, tackling a variety of skills and physical challenges such as mountain biking, kayaking, orienteering, aerial runways and ‘secret disciplines’.
As well as the physical challenge, the event offers its additional benefit to companies taking part in the opportunity to boost staff morale and team building to improve performance through the application of planning, strategy, communications, and teamwork, and having to complete the course and finish as a team.
JAC Travel Scotland, the wholesale travel company is entering a very cosmopolitan team indeed – with a Dane, Italian, Spaniard and German! Led by Rikke Sode, the team members are enthusiastic about the race and are looking forward to the event and the chance to improve their personal fitness.
Competing in mixed teams of four, Team JAC Travel Scotland are all willing volunteers and already have a good level of fitness to build on. Rikke Sode, an X (title) in the company’s Contracting Division, originally from Denmark but who has lived in Scotland for 10 years is a keen sailor and cross-country skier. He sees The BlueSky Challenge as a great opportunity not only to “join a team building exercise with colleagues but also to support such an important charity event”. Along side him from the Contracting Division is Dani Fomiatti, an Italian now living in Edinburgh, who enjoys jogging but is new to adventure racing.
Diego Cristobal, originally from Spain but who has lived in Edinburgh for the last 6 years works as an Account Manager in the Sales Division of JAC. Diego has been involved in team sports all his life, having played semi-professional football in Spain for a number of years. Diego commented: “I have always believed that playing as part of a team you can achieve much more. I believe that The BlueSky Challenge has a lot to offer our team and I am looking forward to the event.”
Proving that you don’t just need male muscle power to succeed the final team member is Lydia Drobny who is originally from Germany. Lydia, who works in the Contacting Division has done a bit of adventure sports such as kayaking and rafting before but says that she hasn’t competed in an adventure race before and is looking forward to training for the event.
JAC Travel Scotland Director, Rebecca Brooks commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting such as worthy cause as The Prince’s Trust. Our team consists of dedicated and ambitious travel industry professionals from all over the world who perform at a consistently high level. They really give their all in the office environment and intend to do the same for The BlueSky Challenge.”
